Monthly Events

Each month we’ve planned an event for our youth (middle school and high school.)  Our hope is that these events will give youth the opportunity to grow in their relationship with God, serve others and enjoy time together.  Friends and parents are always welcome at any youth ministry event!

(Second Presbyterian Release Form – Required for all youth events)

Youth Hour :: 9:00am Sunday Morning

Each Sunday morning at 9am the youth (6th – 12th grade) meet downstairs in Calvin Center.  We are in the middle of our current series (Fall 2014) walking through major events in the Old Testament.  We’re asking questions like: “Why didn’t Adam and Eve immediately die when they ate the fruit?” and “Why would God tell Abraham to kill his son Isaac?” and “Does God speak to us today like he spoke to Gideon?”  We use journals, YouTube videos, stories from our lives, and good old fashioned debate to figure out who God is and who we are.  Come join us!

HSL (“High School Lunch”)

Second has launched a high school only program which meets every other Sunday for lunch directly following the 10:15am worship service.  We meet down in Calvin Center until 1:00pm to discuss a variety of topics.  We have our own spiritual conversations; discuss projects we can do around the youth area, church and community; plan for next summer’s international high school mission trip; and talk about opportunities to provide leadership within the group.  If you’re in 9th-12th grade join us!

Upcoming dates: November 23; December 7; December 21.  Bring $5 to cover lunch.

Second Sundays :: Youth Leading in Worship

The youth of Second Presbyterian help lead the 10:15 worship service the second Sunday of each month. We’ll be calling to solicit help for greeters, ushers, readers, etc.  We’re excited about an opportunity to engage youth in the worship service as we serve our congregation.
