The Great Spiritual Migration: Seeking a Better Way to be Christian
On September 16 and 17, Brian McLaren will speak at Second about how churches are practicing “a new kind of Christianity” that is just, generous and committed to common good. In addition to preaching in worship that weekend, McLaren will lead the following two gatherings at Second:
(1) “The Great Spiritual Migration: How to Be a Better Christian”
Saturday, September 16, 4-5:30 p.m.
McLaren will share how Christianity is being reformed and reimagined today, and how we, as Christians in Kansas City, can be part of Christ’s transforming work in the world. RSVP and share the Facebook event here.
(2) “The Christian Place in Interfaith Conversations”
Sunday, September 17, 1-2 p.m.
In his writings, McLaren argues persuasively that one need not compromise one’s religious beliefs to be able to relate constructively and respectfully to people of other faith traditions and of none. McLaren will speak about why interfaith work is so vital, and how we should approach these conversations as Christians. RSVP and share the Facebook event here.
To prepare for his visit, you’re invited to join a “The Great Spiritual Migration” book group. Come to connect with others and learn about how Christ is at work in the world.
Don’t have time to read, but still want to be a part of the discussion? No worries, come anyway; you’ll be able to jump right in. Come to one session or all of them.
