The Church and Reparations

This week's recommendation is shared by Josephine Njoroge.

One of the ongoing conversations for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is around the topic of reparations and acknowledging the ways that the denomination was involved in and benefited from slavery and segregation.

Last month, NBC News published an article examining how some denominations, including the PC (U.S.A.), the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and The Episcopal Church, have engaged in a variety of activities to study and make amends for this past.

We invite you to read the article, "Churches played an active role in slavery and segregation. Some want to make amends."

For more information on the PC (U.S.A.) and reparations, read this recent article, "Reparations are profoundly biblically correct," published by the Presbyterian Mission Agency.
