Hispanic-Latino Heritage: A History

This week’s recommendation is shared by Ellen Long.

Please take advantage of a wonderful online resource created by the KCK Public Library in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month. It only takes a few minutes to view the timeline and gain some knowledge and insights into our history.

"To celebrate National Hispanic-Latino Heritage month, Kansas City, Kansas Public Library has created a timeline honoring the triumphs and struggles that Hispanic-Latino Americans have had throughout history. Starting in 1846 with the Mexican American War, we have selected 23 points in history to highlight up to today. It is our hope that by honoring and helping people educate themselves about the past, it will in turn allow us all to understand our present. This timeline will provide you with insight into the origin of a large part of the American culture today."
