This is a building year for Second Presbyterian Church.

As we look to the future of the congregation, we know that we have work to do. We stand on a strong foundation, but the needs of our present-day invite us to build for the future.

What is it that we long to build? For now, we’re focusing on these three things:

In a world with increasing loneliness, we long to build community.

In a world marked by oppression, we long to build up justice and equity.

In a world hungry for deeper faith, we long to throw open our doors and build a wider table.

This fall, we invite you to join us in this holy construction.

Join us as we dream. Join us as we build. Join us, by making a pledge to the mission and ministry of Second Presbyterian Church.

We have work to do. Can you help us build up here?

  • For the 2025 year, we hope to raise between $720,000 and $730,000.

  • In April of 2024, the Task Force for Congregational Vitality assessed Second’s current financial standing and recommended that we increase our income to $727,000 per year in order to move towards sustainability.

In 2024, we raised $675,000 between pledges and the Pour Our Your Spirit summer campaign.

Knowing that, a goal of $727,000 requires an increase in the generosity of this congregation. However, we believe it is a stretch goal within our communal reach and we are grateful for every dollar pledged.

  • Due to their lack of use, we decided not to print pledge cards this year. To make your pledge for the 2025 year, please click here.

  • On November 3rd, Neal Johnson, the chair of the finance committee, will be leading a Q&A session on the health and financial wellness of Second Presbyterian Church. All are invited to attend.

In addition to that, our clergy and business office staff are always available to take questions and to share a cup of coffee.

  • Not every season is a season for increasing generosity. We know that.

There are some seasons where we are able to give more financially.

There are some seasons where we are able to give more time and energy.

There are some seasons where we cannot give much at all, and have to allow ourselves to be supported by the community around us.

Whatever season you find yourself in, know that you belong here.

  • If you submitted a pledge to Second Presbyterian Church in 2024, then you likely received a letter from the church inviting you to consider what you can give for 2025. The letters were personalized for each household, but were consistent in their ask. The ask was kept consistent out of a desire to be fair to all households, and to not make assumptions about any one person’s particular financial standing.

If you have questions about your letter or about this personal outreach, reach out to Pastor Sarah. Her door is always open! You can contact her at sspeed@secondpres.org.

  • Do you love this year’s stewardship brochure? We do too!

If you missed receiving a paper copy at the Congregational Meeting on October 20th, we have good news. Printed copies are available at the church for pick up, or you can see a digital version by clicking the blue button below.

In a world that often tears down, will you help us build up?
