Second Presbyterian Church (Kansas City, MO) is looking for a Director of Engagement to lead the congregation in building relationships, engaging members and visitors, and providing “on ramps” for deeper connection and ministry. This role will have a focus on hospitality, engagement and programmatic offerings, effectively “setting the table” for the church’s work.
This will be done by working under the supervision of the Senior Pastor to help organize, direct, and implement church programs and events that foster spiritual growth, community engagement, and connection within the church. The Director will help ensure these programs and events are effectively organized, appropriately staffed, and well-communicated. The Director will work closely with the Senior Pastor to provide strategic administrative support.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and support for the mission and ministry of Second Presbyterian Church.
An outgoing, engaging personality; friendly and approachable by all ages; a warm, hospitable, and gracious manner when interacting with others.
Value of hospitality, inclusion and connection.
Ensure all activities and conduct are compliant with church policies, as well as all relevant laws and regulations.
Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills, including attention to detail and follow through.
Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, church leaders, and congregation members, and diverse persons and communities.
Ability to plan effectively, manage time, meet deadlines, address difficult issues, and follow projects through to completion with minimal directions and supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years experience working in a church, nonprofit, educational, or ministry setting.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with event planning, volunteer coordination, or ministry administration.
Experience leading volunteers and coordinating teams.
