Youth Ministry
We know that the pre-teen and teenage years are, in many ways, the biggest time of transition in life. Kids enter youth ministry in 6th grade and leave after 12th grade as adults. At Second, we support youth and their families through this big transition!
The Youth Ministry is for all students in 6th through 12th grade and provides opportunities to connect with each other and adult mentors. Youth will explore and develop their spiritual lives and share together in all life’s ups and downs.
School Year Programs
-
Sunday mornings from 9-10 a.m.
Join Pastor Sarah in the youth room (on the third floor) for a casual fellowship time with a hot chocolate bar, treats, and meaningful conversation. Together we’ll talk about what’s happening in our weeks, faith questions, joys and concerns.
-
Sundays from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
All 6th to 12th grade youth are invited to youth group on Sunday nights! Youth group meets at the church from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and follows a four-week rotation of fellowship, creativity, study and service. This rotation helps us stay rooted in four truths about God:
God is joyful.
God is creative.
God is with us.
God is just.
Each youth group gathering will include dinner, some connection time and prayer. Download the semester calendar.
Summer trips are one of the most formative experiences that we offer our young people. Trips provide mountain top faith experiences, quality time for deep relationship building among the youth group, and opportunities to explore one’s faith outside the walls of the church. Different types of trips offer different faith experiences. Knowing that, the Youth Ministry Team has adopted a summer trip rotation model. Here is what you can expect and look forward to in the years ahead:

Want to Stay Connected?
There are two ways we communicate in the youth ministry. Youth and parents can expect a weekly email from Pastor Sarah regarding this week’s youth activities. In addition to that, youth with cell phone access are also invited to join the Second Pres Youth GroupMe. GroupMe is an app that allows for reminders and invitations to be sent directly to the youth each week. If you’d like to be added to either the youth family email list or the youth GroupMe, email connect@secondpres.org. We’d love to include you!
