Learn about this orchard and help prepare it for winter by mulching trees, clearing invasive plants, and picking up trash that has accumulated at the site.
Second Members, Sarah and Adam Pope, founded the Giving Grove Montgall Orchard in 2017 to be a part of the neighborhood while creating a source of free, healthy food. The orchard is located in the Oak Park Northwest neighborhood, which is considered to be a food desert. A mix of pear, apple and cherry trees are growing in the space and anyone walking by is welcome to take what they would like. A group of nearby nuns harvest the cherries each year and use them in their mission to teach young people how to cook with them.
