Loving All, Transforming Injustice, Embracing Every Story

“There is no neutrality in the racism struggle...One either allows racial inequities to persevere, as a racist, or confronts racial inequities, as an antiracist. There is no in between safe space of ‘not racist.’ The claim of ‘not racist’ neutrality is a mask for racism.”

– Ibram X. Kendi, How to Be an Antiracist

Second to None: Our Commitment to Justice

At Second Presbyterian Church, we exist to love God, ourselves, and others — whoever, however, and wherever they are — with a love that transforms us all. Our Racial Justice Ministries team is a volunteer-led committee committed to living out this mission by actively pursuing racial justice both within our church and beyond its walls.

We believe that true transformation begins with love, and that means fostering an inclusive space where we examine our beliefs, confront the injustices that divide us, and work together for meaningful change. Our group meets regularly to discuss pathways toward racial justice, engage in deep reflection on our own biases and practices, and explore ways to support our broader community.

Through collaboration, accountability, and a shared commitment to growth, we aim to create a culture of racial justice that reflects Christ’s love for all people. Whether through volunteer initiatives, educational opportunities, or community outreach, we strive to make a tangible difference by championing justice, equality, and reconciliation. Together, we are on a journey to better ourselves, our church, and the world around us — with love that transforms every person, every story, and every space.
