Heartland Retreat Center - Parkville, MO

I’ve Been Meaning to Ask…

Second's All-Church Retreat is a weekend retreat for the whole church family. Whether you are a night owl or an early bird, young or just young at heart, you are invited.

This weekend offers the gift of time away from the chaos of daily life and creates space for connection with ourselves, others, and God. Our hope is that everyone will to leave this retreat feeling seen, known, and loved in a way that helps to support the good work that takes place at Second throughout the year.

In the visioning sessions held earlier this year, one thing that continued to surface is a longing for deeper connection as a church family. Knowing that, our theme for this year is, “I’ve Been Meaning to Ask…”.

Our time together will be organized around three small group sessions where you will have the chance to truly connect with 4-5 other members of the congregation over meaningful conversation questions. While the schedule is not yet finalized, you can sneak a peek here and get a glimpse at the kind of weekend you can expect.

Join us for a weekend of connection. Join us for laughter, time around the campfire, games, and meaningful conversation. Join us, because we are not meant to go through life alone. We hope to see you for our 2025 All Church Retreat!

  • Yes! While we would love for you to join us for the entire weekend, if you cannot make it on Saturday, we’d love to see you Sunday morning! We will have a closing small group session at 9 am and worship at 10:15 am. Join us for one or both!

  • Yes! Registration includes your food for the weekend.

  • Great question! A packing list is coming soon. However, think casual, comfy summer clothes as well as a bathing suit for the pool!

  • The cost depends on who you’re registering and where you’re staying. However, rates range from $15 for a child’s Saturday day pass to $150 for a family staying overnight.

  • We will have nursery care provided in blocks throughout the weekend. Our hope is to provide parents with opportunities to both connect with their kid(s) and with other adults.

  • Thank you for asking! We are thinking about accessibility in the planning of this weekend to ensure the comfortable participation of as many people as possible. Most of our activities will take place in buildings and spaces that are accessible and mobility friendly. We are planning to incorporate AC access and indoor free time activities for those sensitive to the heat. The one area of camp that is the greatest mobility challenge is the bonfire. With that said, we plan to provide car shuttles as close as we can to the fire, and will provide an alternate fire pit location nearby for those who want it.

  • For the last year one of the repeat messages staff has received from the congregation is a desire to connect more deeply as a church. This connection was not limited to the family ministries department, but expressed throughout. Knowing that, we felt called to flip the model from Family Camp to an All-Church Retreat. Session approved with joy, and planning has already begun. We truly believe this could be our best retreat yet, and we hope you will join us.
