Legacy Circle

Generosity for Generations to Come

Our dream is that hundreds of years from now Second Church — which has been our faith community for decades — will still be an active, effective, loving congregation living out and sharing the good news of Christ. We want others to be part of the kind of supportive, generative, self-giving congregation that we have experienced. One way to help fulfill that dream is for us to make sure that when we’re gone, some of whatever assets we have left will go to Second as a legacy gift. It will be our privilege to contribute in that way.
— Bill and Marcia Tammeus, Legacy Circle Members

Why join?

Second Presbyterian Church has been strengthened in its mission by generations of faithful members. Today’s congregation benefits from their past generosity. You can become a link to the future by including the church in your planned giving and estate planning. Your gift will enable Second to continue its ministry and mission for generations to come.

If Second has stood with you during times of joy and sorrow, you have an opportunity to help continue its vital ministry. A gift to Second is a lasting legacy. By remembering your church family, you can be remembered by future generations.

  • The earnings on your Legacy Endowment Gift will be used to support Second’s operations, capital needs, and mission purposes. In specific circumstances, such as an unplanned budget deficit, the endowment policy does enable the church to draw on the principal. Legacy Gifts may also be made to specific endowed funds.

  • The Finance Committee, working with an external investment advisor, manages the endowment funds according to an investment strategy approved by Session.

  • Donations of all sizes are welcome. You may choose to contribute in many ways, including but not limited to cash, securities, deferred giving plans, donor advised funds, proceeds of sale of a business interest, gift annuities, IRAs, 401(k)s, and insurance policies. Please consult with your financial advisor or an attorney before a gift is made. Second’s Federal Tax Identification Number is 44-0545831.

  • By designating Second in your estate plan or leaving a bequest or final gift to Second, you will become a member of the Legacy Circle.  This open and ever-widening circle of people honors those who have named the church as a beneficiary.
