Easter Sunday FAQs
Where should I park?
Second's parking lot is located on the corner of 55th Street and Brookside Avenue (across from Aixois Bistro). You can use both the upper parking lot near the Trolley Trail and the lower parking lot in front of the church's "Front Porch" (west entrance). The lower parking lot continues on the north side of the building with ADA parking spaces available on both the "Front Porch"/west and north sides of the building. Parking is also available on Oak Street, 55th Street, and other streets throughout the neighborhood.
Where is the Sanctuary entrance?
Second's worship services occur in the main sanctuary, which is located on the second floor. The sanctuary can be accessed via the "Front Porch"/west entrance, which has stairs as well as two ramps. Once inside the building, follow the signs to the sanctuary; stairs and an ADA elevator are both available. The sanctuary can also be accessed via the bell tower on the corner of 55th and Oak Streets. An ADA-entrance is located to the left of the bell tower.
What should I wear?
On Sunday mornings, you'll see people wearing everything from shorts and sandals to their traditional Sunday best. There's no standard attire and we encourage you wear whatever feels most comfortable to you.
Is there a nursery?
We love having children and families in worship. Our littlest community members' singing, crying, dancing, and questions bring life and energy to our congregation. During worship, we have multiple options available for children and families. We encourage each family to choose which option is best for them.
Birth-4 years old: Care is available in nursery on the third floor in room 305 during worship. Our nursery is staffed by professional nannies to ensure reliable, warm, trustworthy caregivers look after our youngest. All of the nursery staff is background-checked and trained in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid.
What supports exist for children?
As a community of faith, we value intergenerational worship experiences with our youngest members who bring joy and energy to the sanctuary. We offer nursery care for ages 3 and under on the third floor in room 305, staffed by professional childcare workers to ensure reliable, warm, and trustworthy care.
To support kids age four and older in the sanctuary we offer the following worship aides:
- The Pray-Ground is a space in the transept with craft tables, clip boards, coloring tools, and a little more room to move.
- Children’s bulletins provide a road map of the service to help make sense of the experience from a child’s perspective.
- Fidgets, headphones, weighted stuffies, and sunglasses are available to meet kids’ unique sensory needs in order to help them access the worship experience.
- Pillows are available for nursing or bottle-feeding parents. A restroom with a changing table is just outside the transept doors.
Additionally, if you need to step out of worship for any reason, our family lounge, located just outside the front sanctuary doors, is equipped with a live stream of the service, a variety of toys and books, and comfortable seating. Pop back in to the sanctuary whenever you are ready!
What if I need to step out during the service?
Our Family Room is located outside of the doors at the front of the sanctuary with a livestream of the service. This space is available for children who need extra space to wiggle, cry, or play. A changing table is located in the bathroom next to the Family Room.
