The Post-Roe Landscape: Reproductive Rights Here at Home
Speaker: Emily Wales
9-10 a.m. in the Chapel
With abortion bans in effect across the Midwest and South, Kansas has become a critical access point for patients traveling hours from home. Missouri's own constitutional fight continues to play out. One element that has been crucial in this fight has been the response of people of faith in this moment. In a public conversation long dominated by anti-choice faith leaders, public advocacy and support by communities of faith has helped reframe access and empathy.
Emily Wales (she/her) is a member of Second Presbyterian and serves as president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Great Plains, which provides health care in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. She also leads its advocacy arm, PPGP Votes, which helped lead two state constitutional fights to protect abortion access and reproductive freedom.
